5th International Agri-Horti Fest, U.P.

5th International Agri-Horti Fest, UP, was organized by PhD chamber of Commerce in collaboration with NABARD, Govt of UP at Kashiram Smriti Upwan, Lucknow, on 12th, 13th and 14th of December 2017, in which approximately 100 companies/agencies participated including from India, USA, Japan, Netherland, Denmark and Israel. They displayed their respective products and technologies belonging to Horticulture, agriculture, dairy, fisheries, forestry etc. In this event, our Centre for Biotechnology (MCSGOC) showed their Tissue Culture Raised Product, which is more popular and efficient way of introducing technology to traditional farming, giving excellent contributions to increasing the Farmer’s Income.

Plant tissue culture is a collection of techniques used to maintain or grow plant cells, tissues or organs under sterile conditions on a nutrient culture medium of known composition. Plant tissue culture is widely used to produce clones of a plant in a method known as micropropagation.

The purpose of various tissue-culture techniques is crop improvement, through breeding, wide hybridization, haploidy, somaclonal variation and micro propagation. Tissue-culture techniques are part of a large group of strategies and technologies, ranging through molecular genetics, recombinant DNA studies, genome characterization, gene-transfer techniques, aseptic growth of cells, tissues, organs and in vitro regeneration of plants that are considered to be plant biotechnologies.
